Quarter casks are used for secondary maturation of our whiskies. Each cask holds approximately 125 litres (11 gallons) and would fill approximately 70 standard bottles. The casks are constructed from well seasoned oak. The smaller casks sizes are favoured as the interaction between sprit and wood is far more prolific and results in a more balanced whisky.
As distilleries release a limited number of casks each year, not every whisky type and nor year is available, however the company has purchased casks of optimum years. Our experienced staff will assist you in choosing only the best casks that can be lain down for longer maturation. Alternatively, if you wish to buy a cask for immediate bottling we will select from whiskies that we feel are absolutely ready and will not improve by further maturation.
Cask owners will be given unique cask number, certificate of ownership and will participate in the bottling, resulting in a private labeled malt for family and friends or a business.
